#892 Taking your shoes and socks off after a really long day

Get the TV set to Barney

Cold, wet, and clammy.

That pretty much sums up the state my feet are in after walking around in thin, sweaty socks and tight shoes all day. They’re aching and sore and full of flattened toe hair, crispy corns, and dry, flaky skin. Yeah, it’s a real horror show in the hallway every night when I get home from a really long day.

But how does it feel when you do finally let those feet out, air them out, stretch them out, and just throw them up on the couch and flick on the TV?

Wait, don’t tell me.

AWESOME!

  1. While I don’t personally engage in wanton and reckless sock removal upon returning home, I happen to live with 2 people who do. Typically, there are a few balled up socks littering the TV room floor. These sock balls come in surprisingly handy when you need something to throw at annoying characters on TV, or in person. eg. Dick Cheney

  5. Along with this is the great hair raising feeling of scratch massaging the lines on your foot and calf, left by your sock when you remove it.

  8. the best is hiking for long distance and then get to the beach. take the shoes off and the sand just oozes between the toes and supports the arch like a carress. Then running to the water for a quick dip. :)

  16. Yesterday, while I was at work, my sister stole my iPad and tested to see if it can survive a 40 foot drop, just so she can be a youtube sensation. My iPad is now destroyed and she has 83 views. I know this is completely off topic but I had to share it with someone!

  17. Concur – just finished a temp gig working on a factory floor wearing steel toed boots and getting home at midnight and finally shucking boots and socks was the highlight of the day – every day. Good wool hiking socks made the feet pretty happy for 8 hours but getting them off even happier for the rest of the night. It was sort of a ritual.

  18. I will never forget the unpleasant day I attended to an ecotourism in PETAR, as known as “Caves Park”, when I had to wear my father’s pair of shoes. They were totally uncomfortable by themselves, but when they got completely flooded because of the water inside the caves, all I wanted to do was get rid of them as soon as possible. Even my mood was worsening. When I finally arrived at the hotel, the first thing I remember is the feeling of enjoyment I felt right after putting that pair away of my feet. It was a sensation similar to taking 1,000 tons of my back.
