  1. I’ve discovered this blog almost three years ago when my life was about to change in ways I couldn’t have imagined… since then, although I didn’t comment a lot, I’ve read every single post, smiled, laughed, nodded in agreement, occasionally even shed a few tears. I can’t put in words how much this blog has meant to me. It has been a source for daily inspiration, motivation, a way of sharing life’s beauty and the awesomeness that surrounds us. Neil, thank you so much for every single post and I wish you all the best for your life after 1000awesomethings!

  2. Okay, I love you. Seriously, man, I love you. This blog has helped me so much. Last year, whenever I was feeling horrible I would scroll through and read your posts and it would calm me down. I would start smiling and everything would be fine again. Then, unfortunately, I forgot about your blog for a while and I didn’t read it for a long time. I checked back here again today and saw your last post. I can’t believe it’s over. I can’t, my heart is sinking and I feel like poop. I’m so sad the countdown is over; the end always seemed so far away. Still, I am forever in debt to you for bringing so much happiness into my life. I love you, man. I love you

  3. #725 comments…very cool! My last post for a bit. When I return, there better be 1000 comments…get to it, folks! :)

  7. A special thanks from Brazil. Your lecture on TED really helped me last year. This is the perfect number one awesome thing. Thank you.

  8. thank you for changing the way I look at things :) I really hope to meet you someday!!

  9. Gifting a flower means preparing the stage for emotion flooding. Some gifts are indispensible in any celebrations or events, and flowers top that list without contest. Adding creativity to this already beautiful creation makes the resulting gift a true winner, and FloristGermany24x7.com has left all its specilist touch into tha. The link at http://www.floristgermany24x7.com provides the complete details.

    1. I have checked back a few times, hoping to see a new post. I miss them too!

  10. Hi Everyone! I miss y’all! It’s Sunday!!! I imagine Neil’s enjoying a new lease on AWESOME life! I finally figured out what was going on with my avatar and can now keep an eye on new comments here. Nearly 1000 eh…WOWZA! Sure hope you’re all stopping in at 1000awesomefriends.com. To honor the paradigm of Sir Neil Pasricha and all of us awesome seekers! In the name of love and awesome…be there or be square which is not awesome;) See you there:)

    1. Yeah people come over to 1000 Awesome Friends! But Wendy sorry to correct you but it’s .org at the end :) My personal new Awesome thing so far has been Bananas- especially “Expiry date clearly shown: Green- not yet, Yellow- just right, Brown- time to go”

      1. Emmy, no need to be sorry! I “sit” corrected:) And here’s the thing, I never mind being corrected as long as the corrector is correct and can back their statement of correction up with enough solidity to prove him/herself correct and has done so with diplomacy and kindness, while keeping my dignity in tact, in this case all of the above have check marks, (not to be confused with jdurley’s *tick marks), incidentally, I am truly grateful and attempt whole-heartedly to not error again, in the name of love, awesome and the holy spirit, I *sit corrected and thank you, my awesome friend:)

        1. Hahahahaha ahhh Wendy I love you woman :D Pray tell, why are you sitting? What operation have you had?

          1. I’m sitting b/c I don’t know how to stand and type at the same time! HaaaA!
But true, this afternoon I ‘m having a state of the art procedure done on my hygromas so that maybe I can wear a helmet, hard hat, sun hat and all those other protective devices to avoid another concussion I cannot afford!
If I bat a lash, I’m outta here! Thing is they’ve become a part of my anatomy and cannot be removed, so these incredible specialists are going to perform this thing I don’t know the name of but must trust I’m in competent hands. In the meantime, if all of you of faith would pray, I’d sure appreciate some more time here:) If I can’t get on here for awhile, I’ll have my husband let you know if you like:)

            1. Haha ahhh true there :)
I had to look up hygromas, but they sound painful. I really hope you’ll pull through perfectly fine!! I will be praying for your full recovery, so you can wear awesome hats again! And some updates from your husband would be great too- although I hope you get at least some internet access while in hospital so you can update us yourself

              1. Hey, it’s me and I’m home! They did a trial run to see how I’d do on the real one…go figure! Now I get to replay the anxiety in about 3 months! OK, i know, could be worse! Can always be worse! And I am so very blessed to even have such top notch specialists willing to take these on to raise my quality of life! AND it’s all payed for by our awesome medicare! If I had to pay for any of what they’ve done for me, I’d be homeless and hungry for sure! So blessed! And you are right, much pain! And when they fill I actually lose sight, balance and other scarey things happen. Tonight and for a few days, I should be free…this is a test I am passing…Go me:) Thanks Emmy…I heard you sing today:) I still want the cd, soon:) Gosh it’s nice to check in here and see everyone’s avatars!

                1. THANK GOD FOR MEDICARE! Thanks to medicare, Mum only has to pay about $40-50 (i think!) for doctors appointments when theyre normally about 70. And it’s good they’ve done a trial run! Although it must be annoying that you were looking forward to being free of them and then you have to wait some more…
:D Yes! You want a CD! It’s about $30 including P/H, unless you wouldn’t object to a gift… we have some spares :)

      2. It had to be me…
Your voice is outstanding and lifts my, “Hind’s feet onto high places.”
(also a great book, by the way)

          1. Aha yes it is :) And thank you so much!! You can probably tell it is me just because my dad has the camera focused on me the ENTIRE TIME… but haha its allllllll good :) <3

              1. YES, Emmy, YES! I’d love a cd. I wonder if word press or Neil or Nicholas would hook us up to give you my mailing address? And I’ll need to get some info. from you to pay! Thank you for offering the gift but let’s discuss that in private…I’m sure the choir/school could use the money:) Thanks you lovely ladies for your thoughts and prayers! I’ll keep you posted when the date arrives!
And Bekah our lines are on the fritz, taking me forever to do anything let alone try to refind your message to Neil in your personal blog! Wonder if you’d send a link via my email, please! I’d like to subscribe!

                1. Oh thank you thank you! :D You have a wordpress account right? I think we can message each other…??? Maybe/?? hopefully…. i dont know. I cant contact WordPress directly because theyre catching up on messages or… something. Anyway, hopefully Neil will see this and come up with something…

                2. And, also, I’m definitely not going to have a career in singing :) I want to go into science- forensics or medical research or something combining music and psychology :) Either way, I have to do something with human anatomy!

                3. I will email you the link shortly.
I’m sorry I haven’t been checking back on here. I need to come visit more often.

                  1. Ha sure I was at school all day and ball dress shopping after that so no worries :)

        1. Holy Cow! What an angelic voice you have! How beautifully moving! Thanks for posting for us to enjoy, Emmy!

            1. Aw thank you :D Although I can’t remember posting the link- it was probably Wendy? haha :P Pretty sure she’s my biggest fan aside from my mum and dad

  11. There are all sorts of birds, nature trails, ponds, wetlands, cool adventures community, where I’ve moved! I feel like I entered a theme park and can’t get my fill of who, what, when, where, how… but I do know why…why, because it’s AWESOME!

  12. I think I could have entered the shortest lived blog in history ever! I couldn’t do it! I salute all you successors! Seriously, and with utmost respect for all you put in! Big, huge, Awesome, Thank you’s xoz:)

  13. #767…somebody take over, please! I must get some sleep! Having a procedure tomorrow…hope to be given a new lease on life…hope to see you all again. Thanks for the ideas re: tshirts. I’m so getting the #340- Feel it in your bones, with the lovely image in Neil’s post on the front, DaVinci’s skeletel on the back and AWESOME in living colour:)

  16. Kathy #808…I’m certain that eventually there will be 1000 comments. :)
When will we see an announcement here…what date in June? Looking forward to it!

    1. Tomorrow is the first day of June, so I’ve got my fingers crossed for tomorrow.
      This comment is #810

          1. June 12…. Nothing yet. I bet he’s going to announce it late next week while I’m taking a few vacation days and I won’t find out until real late. I’ll miss the party or whatever he’s selling will be sold out or, or, or something…

    1. Bekah’s must be 812, mine 813?! We need to unite, hollar, clap hands and, and, and all those things done to bring the band back. Neil will “Feel the earth move under our feet and the sky tumbling down, a tumbling down…feel our hearts are a trembling and come around”, to announce! Pretty please with a strawberry on top! :)

  17. Looking forward to June 20 with excitement! Also looking forward to June 13 as I will post pics of a chocolate layer cake with chocolate icing (if someone kindly explains how to do it over at 1000awesomefriends). I’d love to send it to you, Bekah, but since I can’t, I’m gonna enjoy a big slice for you…after singing Happy Birthday, of course!

    1. P.S. My new hip is awesome!!! 5 weeks post-surgery and I’m doing very well! Looking forward to my 6-week follow-up appt. Friday when I hope to hear an excellent report! ~Kathy~

    2. When is your birthday, Kathy? I have to eat a piece of cake for you too!
To post a pic on awesome friends… all I do is copy and paste it. I post the pictures to a flickr account that I opened just for that blog and then I copy and paste them onto my post. I’ve heard there’s a better way to do it, but I can’t remember.

  18. Wow!!! I know I’m commenting late, but this was an amazing blog that inspired me many times. One thing that I find awesome, (I’m not sure if you ever mentioned it or not), is the feeling of warm rain. When I went to Puerta Rico one time, there was warm rain and it is one of the greatest feeling in the world!

    1. That does sound awesome, Tommy. I can’t remember the last time I was caught out in warm rain. Its been a long time.
You can write something up about it and submit it to http://1000awesomefriends.org
Its just a few of us trying to continue on with sharing the awesome. We write about our own awesome things and post them.

      1. #823: Today, my AWESOME is Bekah…HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BEKAH!!!!! Hope you’re having a smashing day! I REALLY wanted to bake you a cake, but I’ve got a sinus infection and I’m not feeling too great. Since my hip is still sore and it’s difficult for me to stand at the counter to cook, I thought you’d not mind too much if I purchased your treat. So, I bought a chocolate cupcake at the store on my way home from physical therapy. It looks very yummy! I will try to post a pic in a while. As soon as I’m back on my feet and feeling well, you will get that special chocolate layer cake! In the meantime, I hope the cupcake shows how special you are! xoxo and BIG BIRTHDAY WISHES to you!!! :) ~Kathy

        1. Thanks! You’re a day off, its tomorrow. I am hoping for a nice chocolate cake. One year hubby got me an ice cream cake… my least favorite kind. I ate it anyway. Chocolate is chocolate, right?
Hope you get to feeling better!

          1. Oh, for pete’s sake! LMAO! OK, well then, I have ’til tomorrow to post that pic and another entire day to wish you happy birthday!!! That’s cool! :D ~Kathy

  19. #827: HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Bekah!!! Hope you got your chocolate cake and had an AWESOME birthday amidst an AWESOME birthday week!!! You’ve given me many smiles…may the coming year bring you many smiles! Best! ~Kathy

    1. #829
Thanks Kathy! Yep, its on the 13th. Lucky number 13. No chocolate cake, but I got an assorted cheesecake which is just as great. I ate a chocolate brownie piece of cheesecake right before bed.

Are you going to announce your big thing tomorrow? That’s the day I think you’ll do it. If you do it Thursday, I will be sad because I won’t be near a computer, but I’ll be back on Friday for a bit.
I’m so excited and can’t wait to see what it is.

    1. #836
That’s what I think too. Tomorrow is the big day. The anniversary of this very awesome blog. I am so excited :)

        1. #841
Oh, lovethebadguy, you beat me to it :-) Although I wasn’t going to merge the 2 words, you clever girl.
          Happy Anniversary Awesome blog/awesome community!
My 4 years wedding anniversary is tomorrow. I was hoping for an awesome announcement from Neil for my anniversary. I hope he didn’t forget about the big surprise.

          1. In case I forgot (which I probably will… tomorrow is forever away!), Happy Anniversary, and congrats on four years together!

(As for “annibirthsary”, that came about when I was writing a post about my own blog’s first yearly celebration of existence. I couldn’t decide whether it was a birthday or an anniversary, so I figured, screw it, it can be both.) ;)

            1. #844
              Thanks!!
And that’s a great idea, combining the two words. When we throw the awesome party, that will be on the banner.

  21. Over the last couple of years I’ve checked in on this website periodically, always thinking #1 was a long way away. What an awesome moment for me this morning, when I saw that it reached #1. I got a little giddy and quickly read through the most recent list. AWESOME. Love it, Thanks for sharing my views on the small things in life, spread the love and happiness xx

#1 ‘Anything that you want it to be’

  22. Hello from Guatemala! I’ve just saw your TED video, loved it. Awesome…mmm when I stare at a guy a like to discover that he is staring at me too.

  23. #853 Still working up to 1000! After reading today’s posts by commentors on things they find awesome, I was reminded that the #1 post and its many, many comments is very awesome to me!

  24. Comment #858! We’re getting so close to 1000! Don’t care how long it takes, I’m determined to see it happen…like when my car turned over 250,000 miles this week! Awesome car! LOL…woohooo!

  25. #859
Awesome: Respect for a MONUMENTAL job well done! I definitely have a newfound respect for Neil and his writing accomplishment. I took the blog for granted while it was going through it’s first run. This time around, I’m attempting to make sure I don’t miss a single post and it’s not easy, for sure! I’ve already had busy days and weeks when I didn’t check in, so I try to go back and read and comment later, which can be time consuming. Can’t even imagine what it was like to be on the hook for 5 posts per week, week in and week out for years! What an amazing commitment, not only to your craft, but to all of your followers! I have great respect for your perserverence, Neil!

    1. I’m also enjoying seeing the blog count down again. Even though I know whats coming and there’s no surprise, I like that I get to tell new stories and meet new people. I do miss some of the old regulars, but I’m always up to making new friends.
      #861!!!

  26. Does anyone else who was there remember the hilarious little girl who won the dance off? When she won she looked like she was so excited she was about to pass out :)

  27. I stumbled across this blog today. And I wish I had seen it all those years ago and read each post as and when it was posted. Nevertheless I’m going to read all the 1000 things over the next few days. I read so many of them today. They really are awesome and uplifting. Well done Neil! :)
Also, I loved Bekah’s blog post ‘For Neil’. Its amazing how unknown strangers from remote corners of the world whom you’d otherwise never meet can have such a huge impact on your life! Some of the good things, the internet is capable of. :)
