#930 Finally getting that tiny piece of popcorn out of your teeth

Don't be fooled by the sunny exterior

You know when you can just feel that popcorn kernal stuck back there in swampy recesses of your mouth and it’s totally infuriating?

Yes, your tongue slides past its smooth surface unsuccessfully, your toothbrush’s flimsy bristles just can’t shake it, and even your fingernail can’t quite unwedge it from the tight molar deathgrip it’s stuck in.

So the fork is dropped and the dessert lays unfinished, the conversation fades to a blurry, distant noise, and the world stops around you as you just keep trying and trying and trying to get that popcorn kernal out. You close your eyes and squint, you tilt your head, you emit a deep-bass “nnnnnnn” noise, as your body directs all available faculties at flushing this thing out. But it just sits there tightly, clogging and gumming up your entire system like a pile of defaulted mortgages.

Then suddenly it falls out.

AWESOME!

Hello Muskokas!

I will be speaking at the Northwoods Muskoka Literary Festival tonight in beautiful Huntsville, Ontario. Hope to see you there and see details on the festival here!

    1. I’m sorry for piggy-backing on your comment, but for some reason I can’t post a comment without doing this. I don’t know what’s wrong.

Anyway…. I hate anything being stuck in my teeth, so when I get it out, there’s always a mini celebration.

    2. I LOVE my floss! I floss after most every meal. Don’t know how I’d get through the day without floss to dislodge the bits that stick. And when the popcorn FINALLY comes out, oh sweet relief!

I’m so enjoying remembering these from the books and the previous blog. Ya know, I don’t think I’d ever get tired of reading these over and over!

      1. “Never tire of these:…you got that right:)
which brings me to this, ltbg, thought we had your word you were not going to miss a single opportunity to comment this time around! Eh?!*
AND, just where is everybody who was here before anyway?!* Who said they did not ever want Neil to close the door so they could chill here forever more?!* Where’s the honour system in all this and that, eh! Lets show the man some gratitude by gracing him with our attitudes, authenticity and awareness…let’s hear it for the world…come on people now, bring it on home to Awesome!

  1. “like a pile of defaulted mortgages” How do you come up with this stuff? Hilarious! I can’t stand to have anything stuck in my teeth. I have to chew gum or brush/floss after every meal and snacks. I go through a lot of gum.

  2. Ahhh…. Yeah, I love it when this happens. I don’t get popcorn kernels stuck in my teeth that often though. C’est la vie.

  3. So true!
Who would imagine that such a tiny piece of food could drive us out of our minds? I can’t stand it, so, when it happens I keep hours trying to remove the bloody popcorn with my tongue. But it’s impossible! It always get perfectly stuck between the last teeth and sometimes, even after brushing, it doesn’t fall. Then, when I have already forgotten about it, it suddenly falls into my mouth by spontaneous wish. It is even more difficult to do it when you use braces, like me.
