#927 A really cold glass of water on a really hot day

When your eyes sting from big salty beads of dripping sweat, your T-shirt gets wet and sticky and melts to your back, and your upper lip forms a splotchy sweatstache, then I say brother, it’s time for a drink.

And what says refreshing better than a tall glass of completely dripping, condensation-covered, fall-in-a-pond-in-winter-cold water?

I mean, you chug that stuff down and it feels like swallowing an icicle. You can actually feel that cold river ripping down the chute and coating your insides. You can feel your throat pulsing, your stomach clenching and thanking you, and your entire body just drop a couple of degrees. It might feel like you’re the model for the Pepto-Bismal commercial, only instead of pink stuff, water.

Yes, a really cold glass of water on a really hot day is simple, it’s cheap, it’s refreshing, and we all know it is truly …

AWESOME!

  1. The weather’s starting to get warm down here in Oz, so this sounds absolutely lovely…

On a related note, has anyone ever drunk coconut water? People keep telling me to try it. Apparently it’s AWESOME, but who knows?

          1. In my classroom my students read a book which contained a story about being shipwrecked and eating coconuts. So, I used to bring in a coconut show my students how to split it and then they’d taste the water and the meat. Coconut water straight from the coconut is typically quite bitter. Perhaps that’s because I’m used to the sweetened, flaked stuff from the market.

  2. There are a lot of times that I just crave water. Is that normal?
I’m a big water drinker, so cold water on a hot day is really awesome! Although, I do have this one tooth that just got a filling put in that hurts when I drink really cold things now.

  3. Weather’s starting to get cold and the leaves are changing colour, and this reminded me of summer. I love doing this on a hot day, especially with iced tea.

    1. Oh yes, aren’t the colours spectacular! Autumn~ raking, running and jumping, walking and crunching leaves should be an awesome:)
