#660 Stomping dry crunchy leaves on the sidewalk

crispy crunchGreen baby buds pop out in the spring, healthy leaves fly high to the sky all summer, and aging beauties flash and change colors in the fall. Then eventually they snap off and crack off and crumble and tumble down to the sidewalk.

People, it’s true — the sun rose, the sun set, months went by, and the earth actually tilted on its axis before this moment could appear before you.

So smile a big smile on your way to school and just enjoy the crispy crunch that comes when your sneakers smash a brittle little leaf into smithereens.

AWESOME!

  1. I love this!! It’s one of the reasons why fall is my favorite season. And I discovered my little brother does this too. We were walking outside one day and he goes out of his way to step on a crunchy looking leaf and said, “gotta step on those crunchy ones!” Haha. He is awesome

  2. We love your blog and book! We’re a club at the University of Washington called Huskies for Suicide Prevention & Awareness (HSPA) and we like to end every meeting with an “Awesome Adjournment,” a reading from the Book of Awesome :) Such a great way to brighten a day. Thank You!

      1. Salutations! T-EE-RR-II-FF-II-CC! Said the goose to Charlotte! And I do too, to you!
        Divine Awesome!

  3. Oh, that is sooooo satisfying! I love it when the gutters get absolutely filled with crunchy leaves and you can just walk along stomping them to your heart’s content.

  4. Oh YA! Another favourite time of year! The colours, the walks, the life force of Salmon runs, the crunching of leaves…after the trees have worked so very hard to oxygenate and going into their much needed hibernation so that they can do it all over again next year~
    spectacularly amazingly AWESOME, alright!!!

  5. The trails actually come alive with leaves this time of year. A whole new experience mountain biking through multi coloured trails. Extremely awesome!

  6. Instead of bringing home flowers, my husband once brought me a bag full of crunchy leaves to stomp and roll around in. Best present ever!

  7. One of my favorites!!!!! I just took Zach on a nice Autumn walk and I had him chasing down leaves so he could crunch them.
