Harsh fluorescent lighting, slushy wet floors, and the cloudy stench of raw fish welcome you into your friendly, neighborhood grocery store. After circling tables of green bananas, wobbly chick pea towers, and piles of day-old bagels, it’s kind of nice to stumble upon the coffee aisle and just take a big sniff.
AWESOME!

Never have I smelled raw fish or seen towers of chickpeas in any of MY local, friendly grocery stores.. I’m wondering if you frequent Super 88..
That is a close second behind the pretty girl that works at the flower department
Or the smell by the bakery of fresh baguettes
I am certain that that’s what Heaven smells like!
I dream of that moment.
I’m not a coffee drinker but I do like the smell of the coffee aisle in the grocery store.
Same here, San Carlos! Never ever drink coffee but do love the smell of that aisle too! :-)
Yeah, I don’t like coffee either, but that is a great smell.
Nice post…
Nice post
What the heck is a chickpea “tower”? Like a stack of canned chickpeas?
That is the best smell ever. Even if I am not in the mood for coffee, I instantly want to have a cup of java right then. Great post
i work in a grocery store and i will go out of my way just to smell that aisle.
I don’t drink coffee, but for some reason I love the smell of it.
my diharea is being blended
Right! Sometimes I’ll stop by the grocery store on my way home at 2AM and I just walk through that aisle. It’s so comfortable.
I absolutely adore the smell of coffee, especially in the morning…but unfortunately the taste throws me off.
strong post. to be truthful i am not sure i understood it completely. but, wanted to step upand comment anyway. are you a journalist by trade?, because your writing is really strong.
I will pull down ever-so-slightly on the lever to make just one coffee bean come out and hold it in my hands while I shop. Then my hands smell great later! =)
THERE WAS BEAN OVERFLOW AND I TRIED ONE AND IF U HAVE B4 U KNOW HOW BITTER AND BAD THEY ARE. MY DAD LAGUHED AT ME AS I BEGGED HIM FOR THE BOTTLE OF WATER HE HAD IN HIS HAND, (HE DIDN’T)
Second only to the smell of a freshly opened bag of your favourite coffee beans, throwing some in the grinder and filling the house with the smell of fresh silt. Next, brew…..and…..(Only a coffee drinker knows what comes next!)
Its great when the cookie isle smells like fresh baked cookies and the produce isle smells like fresh fruit. but i swear,,next time Im sending someone else after toilet paper
I love the smell of the coffee isle (don’t like to drink it though!)
Yes, this is a great experience and so is this:
Best coffee in the world, (well in B.C. anyway), so much we order in and when we open the mail box upon delivery, mmmmmmmmmm, it’s Nelson’s,
“OSO NEGRO!”
“Kicking Horse” too.

Yo
Don’t for get the chocolate isle, please!!!! Although, you can’t really smell it, but in mine you can, because in my neighborhood, teenagers open chocolate boxes for fun and eat only one, so the open boxes smell pretty good……
Sorry for the horrible story
