Engines revving, drivers idling, traffic lights flash red and stall the scene. Then just as you’re pulling up and about to slow down everything suddenly flicks to green.
Now you’re pounding the gas and zooming right through the intersection in a blurry blaze. Fellow drivers start up in your wake but by then you’re long gone, coasting home, smiling wide, and just enjoying the ride.
AWESOME!

So funny! This happened to me yesterday and I thought to myself, “This is one of those awesome things that should be on 1000 Awesome Things!” Such a great one and I’m glad you brought it up. There’s nothing so awesome as not having to sit at a red light!

Sucks to sit through 3 cycles at a red light…awesome to suddenly get the green. Nice addition to your 1000 awesome things.

That is definitely one of my top most awesome things. The other traffic favorite of mine is when driving on the highway and the guy in front of you gets out of the way just before you were about to cancel your cruise control.

Ooooh… Good one! Cruise Control is such a nice treat on long open-highway driving.

I was talking about this yesterday! How do you do it? Amazing.
July 11, 2009 at 1:46 am
Yes, not waiting is nice, BUT you don’t get to experience the previously mentioned awesome thing of catching someone jam in their car at the red light.
Which is awesomer? The world may never know.

That totally happened to me, like, seven times today on my way home! It is indeed awesome (:

I like sitting at the red lights and watching the car next to me getting ready. They creep and inch, thinking they have guessed right. Then, as i wait it out knowing, hitting the gas and leaving them sitting there. They spent so much time anticipating, that they have to hit the brake just as the light changes. It makes me smile bigger when it is some steroid studly in a muscle car and my little MILF car leaves him eating cheeto dust!

Hi..
I submitted this to the website via email – I thought when an idea was submitted there was supposed to be an email notification or a mention on the website of the originator, but i was not informed or emailed that my suggestion was going to be used.
Thx

YESH!!! On the way to school I usually have to pass 5 traffic lights. I had a lucky one a few times, where ALL the lights went green as soon as I reached…. ZOOOM!!!

ugh, i go through like 4 most days, and they are NEVER EVER green when we come to them. Or they are green as we are pulling up, but just turn yellow then red b4 we can cross the line X( im always late because of this

It’s always an accomplishment when you get to your destination without encountering any red lights!

Sorry for asking but is there a way to stop spam? My sites are getting hammered lately with spam. I have heard about akismet but that doesn’t do it do you know of another suggestions? : ).

Happens to me very regularly — but that’s ’cause I’m not stuck in a car. On my bicycle, I can pace myself from further back.
(Putting on flameproof vest, since car culture will spew venom at my very existence…)

Sometimes I sort of get this “feeling,” this sixth sense of when the light is gonna change. I think it was last week that I was driving up to a red light on cruise control, and aaaalllllmost hit the brake, but then it changed and I just cruised on through, still on cruise control. It was a wonderful feeling! :P

The yellow light on the cross street can give you a hint. Just hope that an oncoming turn lane doesn’t get an arrow.

Usually there is only a single light on my 28 mile commute, but due to construction I have to go a different route, with 5 lights. Today, for the first time, all 5 were green and I just cruised into the parking lot. The last one, where I make a right turn against a No Turn On Red sign, changed to green just as I applied the brakes for the turn.
Truly Awesome!

Did you see the PostSecret about the person who control traffic lights that was posted on GivesMeHope? I was thinking about it, and I said, “If he really did have that power, let this light change green as soon as we stop”. And just as the car was about to stop, the light turned green.
