    1. LOL.. I’ve never seen left-handedness used an excuse for being inept with chopsticks before. Maybe you should try turning them around next time – that should solve the problem. :)

    2. Of course not, left-handedness is not an excuse for anything! I’m left handed too, and I can use chopsticks pretty good, I can even pick peanuts up with them.
What is odd though, is that when you’re in China, people there are really surprised when you use your left hand for the chopsticks. It’s just not done!

      1. Its because chopsticks are traditionally used on the right hand, even if you are left-handed.

    3. It’s probably because I’m left-brained, but I’m completely unable to use chopsticks. ;)

    4. That’s not why you can’t use chopsticks. I’m left handed and I learned when I was 6 years old!

    5. I’m left-handed and can use chopsticks perfect. I also like when they come apart perfect, for which I have a tried and tested method. I also only like the square ones. Everything slips out of the round ones.

    6. That’s no excuse at all! I can use chopsticks equally well with BOTH hands! I am right-handed only normally.

  1. I like the clean pull, yes, but I feel super cool when I rub the sticks together (like I know what I’m doing) to get the rough edges smooth.

    1. Sometimes that’s considered bad manners…like you’re saying that the chopsticks are too cheap. Just don’t make the rubbing obvious.

      1. i totally learned all the etiquette of chopstick use the other day! now i know its improper to stab the food with the chopsticks as well as passing a food item from one set of chopsticks to the other. its pretty intense rules! but i haven’t rubbed the chopsticks ever since i read that

  2. I make that face every time I pull chopsticks apart. It’s a simultaneously satisfying and intense feeling that is only aided by eating a ridiculous amount of sushi!

    AWESOME!

  3. I cannot use those oversized toothpicks, which is why I bring my own proper chop sticks to the restaurant when I go. Interesting enough, when I finish eating, the server will take my chopsticks into the kitchen and wash them for me.

  4. YESSS!!! i don’t know HOW you do this, but every day you just post the EXACT thing that JUST happened to me! its like we’re connected, its the best feeling in the world to know that someone agrees! its amazing to learn about you through your blog. you are a really cool person! i’m so stoked about your life!

  5. Aren’t you supposed to make a wish when pulling apart chopsticks, and when they’ve been pulled off perfectly the wish comes true?

  6. I’ve got a suggestion for 1000 awesome things. Once my mum asked me to get her favourite shirt out the closet. When i got there my sister’s there waiting for me with the shirt in her hand!
    AWESOME!

  7. I don’t use chopsticks cuz I don’t eat Chinese food!!! And I’m with ya Zach!!! Not trying to be mean but still!!!

  8. I think these get repeated cause the first comment is like 2009 and it’s 2011 now so……

  9. I’m left handed and I can use chopsticks perfectly! No excuse! You just need to practice :)

  10. Why are people still commenting about the first comment …?

    Chopsticks :D

  11. I don’t really use chopsticks but injures if I got them to split perfectly I would think it was pretty awesome too.

  12. Have you ever thought about writing an ebook or guest authoring on other blogs? I have a blog centered on the same information you discuss and would really like to have you share some stories/information. I know my audience would enjoy your work. If you’re even remotely interested, feel free to shoot me an e mail.

  13. Oh, this reminds me of a valentines day party in sixth grade. We had a competition to see who could put the most candy hearts in a cup in 60 seconds. I WON!!! It was awesome ,but anyway mine almost always break; so it’s nice when they come out perfectly.
