#619 When the person at the store tells you the thing you’re about to buy is going on sale tomorrow

When your friendly neighborhood employee gives you the secret whisper tipoff that the heavy, cardboard something-or-other you’re carrying is about to go on sale, you know what to do.

Stop, drop, and come back tomorrow.

AWESOME!

    Beautiful.

Equally awesome when you strike up a conversation with an employee and catch him/her in a good enough mood that he/she gives you the item for discount anyway. Or even for FREE!!

That happened once…it made my week.

Love this :) Too bad the item we wanted to buy was $260… even with a discount it was way too much. But the conversation was amazing! We found we had so much in common :D

This reminds me of when you go to pay for something and discover that the item you intend to purchase scans in at a lower price! Woo Hoo!

When I worked in retail I would do that for any nice customers. See, it pays to be polite to shop assistants. If you’re rude then your size of item will suddenly be “out of stock” . :P

  4. Ah. The benefits of being courteous.

  5. That means an extra trip back :)

  6. Nice to read this after going to the post office and being told that they were out of stamps: two weeks before Christmas! Maybe tomorrow I will be told about some ‘awesome’ saving while buying stocking stuffers. :)

Hehe, amazing post. Just discovered your site, perfect complementary while I’m drinking my morning coffee. Sometimes we people are too busy to notice the things in life, but this helps me remember that.

    YES! INDEED AWESOME!

  9. This happened just last week when my mom and i were shopping for a television for my brother. We walked in the store the next morning, purchased the TV and were on our way within 15 minutes. Sweet! And my brother was thrilled with his birthday/christmas gift. And we saved a bundle just because the store employee let us in on the secret. Awesome indeed!

  10. Lovely!

But i hate it when the place is super super far. @.@

Or even worst when i’m overseas. @.@

    And faint on the spot.

Prefer it when the boss says i can have it on discount today. XD

even better is when you already know its on sale for a certain amount, and as the associate rings it up, they say “you do know that this was only…” which is about 10% more off… i love sales..

Murphys law: One finds the same item at another store later cheaper. “I shoulda come here first”.

  13. This is in the wrong category. This should go in the “SO AWESOME” category :)

  14. I’ll be back tomorrow!

Just happened to me, only it was a week later. Before the week was out and I found it for much cheaper at another store. Awesomeness!

I was out with my mother buying a crib/bassinet thing for my godson when a lady working there was like “I have a 15% coupon for that.” in a hushed tone. Much appreiciated.

If they tip you off another store has it cheaper, too.

It happens to me ALL the time at my fav clothing store…I guess that’s why it’s my fav store to shop in. It’s always nice to get that top or those pricy jeans at 50% off or a but one get one free. Awesome for sure.

    Very kind:)

  20. Hi there! I know this is kinda off topic nevertheless I’d figured I’d ask. Would you be interested in exchanging links or maybe guest writing a blog post or vice-versa? My site addresses a lot of the same topics as yours and I believe we could greatly benefit from each other. If you happen to be interested feel free to send me an email. I look forward to hearing from you! Wonderful blog by the way!
