#561 Letting the waves bury your feet at the beach

Smile and stare out into the glimmery ocean distance as your feet sink and squish into the wet sand at the edge of the waves. Squeeze pockets of drippy beach in your hands and rub your dirty palms together for a mini-massage as the burnt orange sun slowly dips down in the distance. Breathe that warm and salty ocean breeze and dig your feet in deep as you close your eyes for a moment, let your mind drift away, and just let it all go.

Just let it all go.

Just let it all go.

AWESOME!

EEeeeeeeeee!! I could do this for hours. I always wanted to eventually get waist deep, but alas, my body would never succumb past my ankles. But that was

    AWESOME

    enough for me :D

  3. Mel

I just got back from my reading week grad trip in the dominican. I definitely spent sometime letting the waves bury my feet in the sand and it was awesome.

  4. Panthalassa

There are very few things more satisfying than this as far as I’m concerned. Spot on!

  5. Mike

  8. The sensation itself is so great. Sinking and being covered. Like the earth is feebly trying to give you a hug? lol

Few things in life are more therapeutic than letting the sand swallow your feet :)

I’m sure I’m not the only one who had a therapist at some point who had them visualize a happy place in times of stress or sadness – this was always mine.

I definitely needed to read this today – the mid-winter blues are pretty fierce right now!

This is one of my favorite things to do when I go to the beach! I usually do it when the water’s too cold to go into, but my boyfriend does anyway. So I stand on the water’s edge, sinking into the sand, watching him.

  20. Man, I love when the tide comes in and erodes the sand right beneath your soles.

I was looking for that. That is THE BEST feeling. When you’re left standing on a single blob under the ball of your foot!

I’m seventeen, and had never seen the ocean until last week when I went to Florida. I had always wanted to, and was unbelivibly happy I was finally getting the opportunity. I was so excited about it that I sprinted in, even though it was absolutely freezing that day, (although, I did only get up to my knees, it was so cold!) But, at one point, I just stood and stared out, letting the waves wash up over my feet, completely awestruck. It was honestly one of the most wonderful feelings in the world. :]

  22. jdurley

LOVE doing this! The sound of the waves is a big part of it for me, too.

  23. Bry

Yes! I love this. I recently moved about 2 hours away from the beach and its so close I can taste it!

  24. I use to love doing this when I was really young.

  25. LauraHelen

My cousin and I are convinced that you either know us or are stalking us… We just got back from a vacation in Hawaii where we not only buried our ankles in the sand on the shore but also drank Kona coffee daily where I watched the cream meld with the coffee AND didn’t hit my head on the mini-van rental!

Come out, come out where-ever you are!!

  26. A

This took me somewhere else. I love your blog! (and you, a little, I think : P)

  29. I grew up but every summer for two weeks we’d go to the shore. For two weeks I’d get to enjoy the feeling of the cool water bury my feet in the wet sand. Have to agree.
