Everyone in my crew has a nickname. We have a Short Chris, Tall Chris, Ross (Rick Ross), Baby Trey Songz, Melanie Stefanie, Casey-dilla (pronounced quesadilla), The Future, MoKenStef and many more that I can’t mention on this blog. We don’t let new people in often but when they get their name they’re always so excited. Mine is Body-2-Body….long story. There are people whose real name I don’t even know!
Haha, I love those situations.
“And that’s Skinny.”
“What’s his real name?”
“…I don’t know…”
I need to get some better nicknames in my friend group, based on the ones I’ve seen above here.. all the ones we use are just modifications of our real names (see: Freddo).
My wife’s favorite situation is that we have a friend named “Casey” who we just call “Case” (I warned you we weren’t very original).. and we’re the only ones who call him that.. but it turns out that his REAL name is Case, and that Casey is just the nickname he went by his entire life.. so my wife thought it was hilarious when she realized that as his good friends, the “nickname” we came up with for him is his actual real name. Oops.
Why couldn’t we have called him Casey-Dilla like trixierix thought of.. I’m not sure if it’s too late to change it.
LMAO@Freddo! Yeah, I’m feeling decidedly unoriginal in my and my friends nicknames. Trixie and her crew are very creative, not to mention, there must be some very funny stories to go along with those names!
Thanks! Yeah….Let’s just say if you weren’t around for my nickname origination, you’ll never hear that story. I know only go by B2B for short so no one thinks to ask
HAHAHA to the Case/Casey situation!
Ditto for my group! Though when I was little, for some reason I always wished I had a name that was long enough to need to be shortened. I really don’t know why. You know, like Steph, or Liz, or Bekah (:D), or something of that nature. Shortening Laura doesn’t really shave off much syllabic effort or writing time. Laur. Hmm. Nope.
The only person in my group who really had a nickname was one of my old friends/roommates in college. When I met him my sophomore year (he was a year younger than my current crew and was a high school friend of theirs), he was introduced to me as Beast. I didn’t even know his real first name until we were Facebook friends! I only addressed him, introduced him, and thought of him as Beast. It doesn’t register until I see it on others’ faces that it’s actually a strange name for a person and I end up backtracking to note that it’s a nickname, and tell them his real name.
Ya, wish we had a group like Trixie-Rix does. Suppose that’s the way to toll the Southern Belle, eh? (Hardy har!)
Laur…I can relate. I usually get Wen! Wen what, I say? Then one fine fall day 2011, Magda called me *Wends* and everything since changed. I’m somehow smarte. I smoke a pipe. And I wear tweed blazers with suede patches on the elbows;)
Waterwellen!
WOOO! Thirteen is my favourite number! I’m glad it has such a sweet and awesome thing attached to it. :D
YOU like 13? I thought I was all alone *high fives*
Mostly, now, people just introduce me by my nickname. Can you guess what it is?
…Does it begin with a G?
…and end with an onzo?
I don’t really have a nickname. Nothing crazy that doesn’t go with my name at all…
Let’s see… if I have much say in it, I like to be called Rebekah most times like at work and when I was in school. Except one time in 5th grade, the teacher called me Becky.
The only people that call me Becky are close family, my bff and her family.
Hubby’s friends and family call me Bekah. He just started doing it. I didn’t like it at first, but it grew on me.
Um… My dad used to call me Gertrude back when I was 5 or something.
Other than that, I don’t have one.
Oh.. my oldest brother calls me Sissy and he told his son to call me Aunt Sissy. Forgot about that one.
Yes, nicknames rock – when they’re cool nicknames and your friends use them, that is!
If your ID is your nickname, that is a VERY COOL moniker!
Thanks, Kathy! I like it!
It’s surprising how great this really is. When someone gives you a special name, it just makes you feel like you are special to them. Except when that nickname is “Squirrelly Durley”. That one, not so much.
Ack! That was so kind of you… not only did you personalize my seat, but you left me some delicious gelato as well! (It looks to be chocolate-hazelnut flavored… do we know anything else that is chocolate-hazelnut flavored, kids??)
In return, I’ve saved this small city in the southern UK for you!
LOL, that’s actually the city of my ancestors, so well done! I do hope to visit there some day.
I love nicknames a lot my nickbane is PomPom my other three bestfriends names are Maggi Noodles, Marzipan and Penacanata haha lol <3
I have an awesomesauce nickname that no one used until this year. I really wanted someone to use it because I love it. Then, one of my friends started calling me that. She is definitely AWESOME!!!
My friends tried to give me a nickname but all they could come up with was Tay Tay, but I wouldn’t let them call me that because it sounds like something Paris Hilton would call her dog…
XD It does
I love nicknames, it sort of give you this unique intimity!
yaah toelly mon!
my nickname’s aaaaaaaaasome
my best friend Bindana’s is BananaBearBobtheBuilderILoveYou or just BBBBILY or Bubbly for short…
Hey!! You came on here! I love my nicky so much
nicky means nickname (we gave the nickname a nickname)(and it rhymes with hickie) ;D and dickie
In high school, I had 2 other friends who have the same first name as me so everyone started calling us by our last names as our nicknames. Now, even though more than 5 years have past, whenever we talk to each other, we still refer to each other by last name
This is so great! Reminds me of the “hug relationship” one, where you just know you’re important to someone :) it’s the little things (duh, understatement I know) I get Liv, which I love. But my best friend from home we sometimes call Bucket… her name is Emma, which is close to the Dutch word for bucket and since she’s Dutch we like to think her parents secretly wanted to name her Bucket.
Boy hugs… one of the most missed things about childhood.
I have a friend named Chanel, but I’ve only ever known her as Shimmy, because some when some mutual friends first met her, they were like “Chanel like Coco Chanel? Coco like shimmy shimmy coco puffs? yeah, we’ll just call you Shimmy.” and that’s all anybody at school knew her as.
in my case,we werent actually neew friends.we had been friends for a while and then we got really close.but she (anyi) did stick to calling me Rosine. so the first tym she called me ‘koko’ actually marked a difference in our bond.and we have only grown closer over the years!
I have many nicknames but I love being called nicknames in other languages, in hindi, I’m duffer or pagal, there’s a certain ring, that comes along with knowing the actually meanings
Oh man! I’ve always wanted to be called by a nickname, and then I remember this one time in middle school, the class-clown of my class called me ‘Chavi’ and I totally loved it and secretly in my heart wanted it to stick. But, that was literally the first and last time anyone has called me that, or even called me by any nickname, and I tots cherish it.
This is a good one! 13B is when your significant other does this. My husband almost never uses my real name, preferring to call me by my nickname, “Bear”. When he calls me by my real name, I come running because that means there’s an emergency.
I don’t know if it’s just me or if perhaps everyone else xperiencing issues with your
website. It seems like some of the written text within your posts are runbing off the screen.
Can someone else please provide feedxback aand let me know iff thi is happening to them as
well? This may be a issue with my broiwser because I’ve had this happen previously.
Appreciate it

I’ve tried it in two different browsers and both show the same results.
Please let me know if you’re looking for a writer for your weblog.
You have some really great posts and I feel I would be a good asset.
If you ever want to take some of the load off, I’d really like to write some material for your blog in exchange for a link back to mine.
Please shoot me an e-mail if interested. Cheers!

Reblogged this on pepp8.
