Yes, the dance party turns into a private rockout in your messy apartment as you jump on the floor, nod at the DJ, and start bringing down the house with your superfly moves.
Cristal for everybody!
AWESOME!

It’s even better when they lead up to it with a personalized introduction, getting your name flung across the radiowaves.
That usually only works out for local stations, though.

As a DJ, one of the greatest things is to actually get requests. It’s so great when someone calls in or walks up to you to ask for a song they love and you have it in your collection.
AWESOME

When I was a kid, it was a big deal to get your request for a music video played on our city’s after school music video show. Competition was tough and viewers had to send in art work to get their request noticed. When my INXS request for ‘Don’t Change’ was selected and my name was announced on live TV, I was beyond thrilled! Yes, this ‘thing’ is one of the best. ever!

I love when you ask the DJ to ” shout out” for your friend. Everyone goes wild. Recently, in Vegas we had a friend who bailed last minute and we got the DJ to give him a “shout out” anyway – him not being there was so hysterical to us. I highly reccomend the absent “shout out”.

I have so many recollections of school dances and the DJ never playing anything I asked for. Aside from the ONE time we found our popular acquaintance and he got a song played for us. So I imagine that this would be awesome.

Ya, so true. It was always some creepy old guy who only had really old music that he listened to — never anything new.

ah we were always the kids with “weird” taste in music, so the DJ had either not heard of what we wanted to hear or didn’t have it.

It is nice when they play the songs you like.

I found that my musical preferences makes most people cringe when they hear me describe what I like. However if they have the chance to here it, they are quickly converted and begin bowing down to my superb taste and begin begging me for more suggestions. I ended up just making a site for them to honor the greatest music on earth bow down to http://tastym.blogspot.com/ and know you’ve been tasted

There’s nothing quite like spinning a tune on the wheels of steel that get people shaking the floor! :-)

I called up a radio station to ask a question about a funny song they played. The DJ and I ended up talking for over an hour, he had to put me on hold while he made announcements and identified songs… He told funny jokes to me and played five of my favorite songs (nothing wrong with having more than one favorite is there?) in a row. What a nice guy.
And once my best friend and I went to a free concert at the local casino for a country singer that was a one hit wonder. Amazing voice though. I requested a song of his that made the radio but didn’t get much play… Anyway he said “This one’s for Amy!” Made me happy!
