#472 Finishing your last exam

After sitting on a wobbly wood desk coloring in multiple choice bubbles for hours, you finally tip-toe to the front and hand in your last exam. Now you can say goodbye to biology, say goodbye to  photosynthesis, say goodbye to hypotenuses, and say goodbye to the hot stench of chalk dust and B.O. sitting heavy in the hot room.

Now you can say goodbye to early mornings, say goodbye to pop quizzes, and say goodbye to weekend homework.

Now you can say hello to summer.

It’s finally here.

I’d love to meet you in Washington, DC next week.

“Today I finally made my way to a bookstore to pick up The Book of Awesome. It took a while for my friend and I to find it … and he doesn’t know secretly I bought it for him! He’s a year older than me, and is going to college in the fall, but I have to stay home for my own senior year. So as a present, I’m giving him your book in hopes that on those hard freshmen college days he has a little something to cheer him up and make his day AWESOME!” – Katie

  1. Agreed. It’s best when you are sure you won’t have to retake…

  2. aw man. i knew this feeling when i graduated from college! but my major had to be accounting and i have 4 of the biggest exams waiting for me after college. UGH cannot wait!

Ohhh sucky! I have a friend who graduated with her Master’s last spring and had to take the CPA exam(s) over the course of last summer. We basically didn’t see her. All summer.

      GOOD LUCK! :D

      • ugh thanks. i’m planning to take all 4 before the end of the year. i’m already receiving “complaints” from friends that they miss me. it’s only been 2 weeks! LOL

    Such sweet relief — particularly that extra-special, mega-rare, highly-anticipated LAST-last exam.

  4. The last exams of High School and College: Some of the most awesome feelings you’ll ever have!

  5. Jasmine

The most awesome feeling out. :D
In my first year at uni I just finished my mid-year exams and the absolute sigh of relief afterwards was the best feeling in a long time! Got more coming up in October though :'(

Oh my God! I’ve got my last A2 exam today, so this was a little spooky lol.

    Wish me luck!

  7. And what about getting a degree?

Writing the thesis was more stressful than preparing math…

But now I’m finally free! :D

  8. Lou

Amen brother – A-levels, done and dusted. At least till results day

  9. I didn’t know when I took my last exam that it was going to actually be my last. I didn’t get to finish college because my scholarship wouldn’t let me take any kind of leave to have my child and I had no other way to pay. I had all intentions on having more exams……I don’t even remember my last one. I do remember getting out of my big English exam because I wrote a really awesome essay… that was awesome!

  10. …and never, ever to return. Even sweeter! :)

  11. Yes, finishing that last exam is the best!! And I’m totally bummed that I can’t make it to your visit to dc! But I hope you enjoy!!

  12. Okay, let me just add: as a parent to teens, we too breathe a major sigh of relief when your last exam is written. All that stress just evaporates…. And all those errant study sheets finally disappear.

Oddly enough, my last exam this semester was in Biology. And I did have a question or two on photosynthisis.
No chalk dust or B.O. and nothing about hypotenuses.

  14. Diane

You know what’s even more awesome? Not having to do ANY exams! YAY EXEMPTIONS!

  15. I finished about 2 hours ago for good AND when i finally loaded this up its the first post i see.. MY LIFE IS AWESOME :D

  16. There’s nothing like that feeling! And now, I’m on the other side of things and I get to GRADE all those exams. It’s awesome when I finish the last exam. http://www.livewithflair.blogspot.com/

In the immortal words of Alice Cooper:

    No more pencils
    No more books
    No more teacher’s dirty looks

    Out for summer
    Out till fall
We might not go back at all

    School’s out forever
    School’s out for summer
    School’s out with fever
    School’s out completely

[ed note: I added that last part]

The timing of this post can’t be better! Today, I had my last exam of my last day of school from my senior year.

It’s such an emotional moment, knowing that it’s maybe the last time you’ll see many of these people, and it’s difficult but you also feel happy because you made it!!

Thank you, Neil, I don’t know how you do it, but you always get it right.

One of my happiest days. It wasnt just saying hello to summer but to the rest of my life!! I remember it vividly, i was fully prepared for the exam. It was a beautiful sunny day and when i left the exam room everything seemed brighter. I was super happy. I felt like a huge weight had been lifted off my shoulders. Hello world, goodbye UWI. Only one word to describe it. Yup u guessed it…..AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!

“Finishing your last exam” that’s the best feeling I can get at school.
Then you know that the difficult period is finally over. You know there will follow now a short period with al lot of pleasure and fun. City visits, shopping with friends, go to the cinema, eating McDonald or Quick and drinking beer. That’s the moment you don’t need to think of the results of your exams, just… relaxing.
