#71 Making a wish

Blowing out candles is pressure.

Lights are off, song is over, and a standing circle of everyone you know crowds around as you sit facing a giant cake covered in a flaming forest of candles. Someone screams for you to make a wish and you’ve suddenly got two seconds to think of something good before blowing spit all over dessert …

Whether it’s seconds before a birthday blowout, the moment you see a shooting star, or that quick wish before whisking an eyelash away, it doesn’t really matter if your dream comes true.

All that matters is that you’re suddenly forced to stop, slow down, and take a step back to think about where you are, how you’re doing, and what you need. For a brief moment you stand still in this spinning world and let your thoughts wash right over you.

So wish for a kiss, wish for a wedding, wish for a bike, or just wish for more

AWESOME!

    My birthday isn’t until July, and by then It will be too late to wish for 1000 more awesome things straight after this countdown runs out!

Not that it’s necessarily Neil’s responsibility to provide me with a web hangout, but he DID start this after all and now here we are…

  6. My 6 year old daughter asked me last night why when she wishes on stars her wishes don’t come true. It broke my heart that someone so young could be so jaded. I still believe wishes on stars can come true and I’m 37!

  7. Look at the shiney wishes in those starry eyes, heading straight for the heart; shooting high in the skies!
    Unlike Pink Floyd’s reference to, “Time”, there are endless more extraordinary Awesome things, to say! I’ll take a slice of spit covered cake any day, rather than see this all fade away.
    “Makes no difference who you are” ~ “There can be miracles, when you believe” ~ “Make a wish” ~ “An ordinary miracle,” may come our way!

  9. It’s spectacular when you actually see a huge scattering of stars in the sky…and then you see a shooting star. A real one, not another airplane just casually carrying people in the air and crushing your hopes at the same time.

  13. I always just wish to be happy–nothing specific. That way, if the bread comes out of the oven just right or there is a beautiful sunset, my wish has come true for at least a few moments, despite the fact there is so much pain in my life.

    1. I’m sorry for your pain.
      I have wished the very same thing since I was very small. I think it’s the way to be…happy:)

  20. When you make a wish is like you could see the future. You just use your imagination to pretend that it will really happen, such as in a fairy tale.
    In our mind, doesn’t matter if it is something apparently impossible because, at that moment, the hope that it becomes a reality is a unique feeling.
    In the end, everybody can desire everything and “drink” a simple sup of all “magical” dreams, not just blowing out a candle. Then, we can see that the awesome thing is be happy with this short phrase: Make a wish.
