#522 Dancing when you’re home alone

Get your groove on strong.

Yes, lock that door, shutter those blinds, and crank that bumping thumping music, baby. Because it’s time to get down with the get down:

• The Microphone. Wooden spoons are ideal but there are good substitutes like toothbrushes, combs, or even a bulky plastic hair dryer. Just don’t trip on the cord.

• The Crowd. It’s all about mirrors. Nod and let them nod right back at you. Watch them mouth the words and raise their fists with yours. What a beautiful audience.

• The Critics. There are none! This is the best part. Nobody says you’re singing out of key so just wail till you can’t wail no more. For bonus points get your voice so loud and dirty it scratches the back of your throat.

• The Wardrobe. You’ve got a few costume options including the classic ripped raggedy T-shirt and pair of faded sweats. There’s also underwear only, or even, well… you know. Relax, you look great. Time to rock out.

Yes, we’ve all been home alone and sometimes it’s fun to lose yourself in the moment.

After all, maybe you’re hanging with a heavy heart, burning with a hot temper, or just snowed in after a bad day. If there’s a black cloud hanging ugly over your head there’s no cheaper cure than having a solo dance party in the comfort of your place.

Some come on and turn it on, crank it up, and just shake it baby, shake it baby, shake it like that.

AWESOME!

  1. Remember your pots and pans for drumming. Nothing better then banging on them as hard as you can to get any built up energy out! Just make sure you close your blinds- and if you forget, theres no shame in having fun! OWN IT!

  2. While I agree with the basics in #522 Dancing when you’re home alone | 1000 Awesome Things , I think the positive sentiment around today is a result of a false set of circumstances. The demand for consumer credit is still poor and there is no significant improvement in the housing sector. The developed countries are surviving on their governments ability to just borrow and spend into their economies which is difficult to maintain. Regards, Lilla Stouten.

  3. I remember when I was a teen I was home alone so I went to my room and blasted the music got my brush mic and started dancing an singing.. But I also remember when my boyfriend walked in on me doing this that day… He was in the kitchen making me supper

  4. I have mini dance parties with my dog and I’m not afraid to admit it! He’s got super long legs so I grab those front paws, stand him up, and dance away!

  5. I do this almost everyday! Being alone at home, with nobody watching you is awesome, I can act crazy, scream, dance, be in any clothes… I have a special playlist with cheerful and loud songs that I can dance and sing while alone at home. But the best part comes after that. When you are very tired of dancing, laughing at yourself and singing, laying in bed and breathing slowly is so refreshing. I feel like I’ve burned a lot of calories and it actually makes me feel so much better. It’s like I’ve put all of my worries out, and suddenly I’m feeling very relaxed. This is definitely one of the most awesome things of the list!

  6. Dancin with myself oh oh! How has this song not been mentioned yet?! One of the best songs to dance alone to, IMO

  7. You made some good points there. I checked on the web for more information about the issue
and found most individuals will go alonbg with your views on
    this site.

  8. I love your blog.. very nice colors & theme. Did you create
this website yourself or did you hire someone to do it for you?
Plz reply as I’m looking to construct my own blog andd would like tto find out where
u got this from. thank you

  9. I was suggested this web site by my cousin. I am not sure whether this
post is written by him as nobody else know such detailed about my trouble.
    You are wonderful! Thanks!

  10. I like dancing when home alone, as well. My rules include;
    1) WARDROBE – T shirt or polo, shorts – boxers preferred –
bare feet or flip-flops, and sunglasses (to simulate a barefoot bop
    on the beach).

    2) At least one mirror, to see myself dancing. (If I’m too tired to dance,
just tapping my foot is OK.)

    3) Preferred music is jazz or R&B, especially with a hot
    tenor saxophone part.

  11. If you think about it, the search engines want to gauge your websites popularity based on other
webmasters’ assessment of your site. You may have an excellent website that is full of
great content and well optimised for search
engines with keywords. However, Google now also reward
websites with good, quality content much faster.
