#745 When someone gives you their last piece of gum

If you're offered this piece, you're in there, babyWhen someone offers to crack that final white chicklet out of their crinkly plastic checkerboard, it just sort of dawns on you: you’ve got a new best friend.

AWESOME!

  1. Oh. That’s an interesting photo… I don’t think I’ve ever bought gum that comes in plastic tablet-like packaging like that. I’ve only ever had Hubba Bubba tape, and Extra, which is just the individually paper-wrapped pieces in the cardboard casing. This is either an Australian thing, or maybe I’m just not adventurous enough with my chewing ventures.

    1. Chewing gum comes in all kinds of different packages. I’ve had the kind pictured above and both kinds you talked about as well as the Big Chew pouches.

        1. Its a big pouch with ‘shavings’ of gum… kinda like chewing tobacco. I don’t know if its still around or not…

  2. I actually haven’t chewed gum in quite a while, but it was my best friend while trying to quit smoking. I hated when someone asked me for a piece during that time and refused to give them my last. I was a bit of a grouch during that time. I’m all better now and would gladly offer you a piece if you wanted.

    1. Good on you for quitting! I think a bit of grumpiness and gum-possessiveness during that time can be disregarded, given the end result. :)

  3. Could be a sticky situation! Get it? Hardy har!!!
My grandson, Noah recently earned the priveledge of chewing gum and he’s so entertaining I’d gladly give him my last piece of trident tropical twist just to watch his delightful antics; the twinkle in his eyes, the up-down
motion in his step with the encourageing words we remind him to chew, chew, chew, it’s been’s rather funny to watch his chewing gum evolution. If only we’d caught it on video, b/c it surely would’ve gone viral and we could’ve scored big shares on youtube! Am I right, Neil;)
