  1. Staying up past your bedtime as a kid. Even if its just for half an hour, you feel like you are all grown up for a night.

    1. Slip ‘n Slides are so awesome. I remember playing on one like crazy when I was a kid. Get a good run, jump, slide…and then keep sliding onto the grass and down the hill.

      1. I loved em too, tho I remember slicing my leg on one of those cheap plastic (metal?) stakes once and never really went for it again. Kinda like Tom Cruise in Days of Thunder.

      2. We made one down hill out of 3 huge tarps and soaked ourselves in dish soap before going down. The best part was landing in the big soapy puddle at the bottom.

  2. Walking past your shoes on the way outside with no intention of putting them on.
We all know those nice sunny days when shoes are totally out of the question. The days when barefeet and some sunglasses are all you need. Rushing out the door without shoes to go enjoy the sunshine and grass under your toes. Now that’s awesome.

    1. And almost as nice — first day wearing sandals/flipflops once winter is over.

Personally, I usually bust out the flipflops while there’s still snow patches on the ground.

  3. That feeling when you get into your room after running up the stairs in the dark when you think there’s something running after you

  4. Truth or dare games.
yeah…I played that game with my friends from elementary school all the way through high school.

  5. When you ar ein McDonald’s at the end of a very long line, and suddenly, the cash desk next to it open and you are the first in the new line :)

When you are almost getting late in a train, plane, bus, etc but you reach it :D

THIS IS A GOOD PAGE, THANKS YOU FOR GIVING ME A NEW REASON TO BE HAPPY EVERYDAY :)

  6. The arrivals gate at an airport/train station/bus terminal/etc. for 2 reasons:
    1. You either have someone waiting to pick you up and drive you home (or wherever it is you’re going)
    2. You see other people getting giant bear hugs. It’s just a happy making thing :)

  7. It’s definitely a sign of the times that none of the comments above involve smoking! I’m happy to say I quit ages ago, but going outside on a crisp morning with a fresh cup of java, smoking the first cigarette of the day was totally awesome. In an unhealthy, disgusting sort of way, but still pretty awesome.

  8. What I like to call “Road Waterfalls” It happens when you’re driving on a rainy night and the reflection of the other cars tail lights on the road looks like red waterfalls. Check it out next time…it’s memorizing!

  9. -that time in the morning, right before the sun hits the horizon, when everything is a hazy blue hue.. nothing feels real.

    -light reflecting off of water

-when someone thinks you’re asleep, but you aren’t completely, and you feel them softly brush your hair away from your face or kiss your forehead, or say something soft and sweet and you know they’re looking right at you with the most loving eyes.

-drawing names for Secret Santa and picking the person you wanted because you know exactly what to get them

-when an elderly person smiles at you for giving up your seat for them on a crowded bus or train

    -reciprocated feelings

-when a specific quote from a book just sticks in your mind for days. for me, at this moment its, “Peculiar travel suggestions are dancing lessons from God.” (Cat’s Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut)

  10. Request to seperate the awsome things from the comments! Or maybe make the comments on seperate pages (20 to a page?). You have to scroll down and guess where the end of the list is because there’s so many comments! Maybe put a link to bottom of the awsome things list? Keep em coming, this list is, honestly, awsome!

  11. When you’ve burnt something really badly in a pan/casserole dish and you think it’s going to take serious elbow grease to remove all the crusted-on food and surprisingly, you soak it for a short while then use a sponge on it and it comes clean without hardly any effort!!! Bonus points if you’ve left this dirty dish for days thinking it would never get clean and you’d have to throw it out!!

  12. Glow sticks….
I played with them as a kid…..and I still do. Just bend ’em to hear the crackling noise, shake and enjoy. I love glow sticks. I always have some in the house.

  13. -Smells that bring back memories.
    -Unique mail boxes.
-When the power goes out and you light all the candles in the house.
    -That new puppy smell.
-Sitting at a camp fire and getting hypnotized by the flames.
-laying on the pile of clothes fresh out of the dryer.
-Jumping back and forth from the hot tub to the snow.
-When people are nice enough not to sit in front of you in movie theaters so you can put your feet up.(If its not crowded.)
    -Running away from waves.
-When the wind is so strong it can hold you up. And warm wind.
-Being the one to finish the toilet paper roll and leave it, and when you come back theirs a fresh roll waiting.
-When you stop petting a cat or dog an they nudge or nip you to keep petting.
-when you in the mood for something or crave something and you get or do it.
-turning of your lights for a few seconds while driving on a deserted road at night.
-when your standing on the beach and the wave comes up then down and it pulls the sand out from under your feet.

  14. Being spontanious….how is that not awesome.
Last minute road trip, going to the store for just a few things and deciding right before check out to get that big screen tv, walking past a salon and daring yourself to go in and get a new hairstyle, that last minute good night kiss on a first date that you almost got to scared to do………its all so very awesome!!!

  15. When something’s been making you feel emotionally confused for ages and you figure out how you feel about it, and then say it right to someone else.

And the smell of old books.

  16. 1. feeling your teeth with your tongue when you first get your braces off.

    2. that awesome moment when you are first able to ride a bike without training wheels.

    3. hearing “snap, crackle, pop!” when you pour milk into your rice krispys

  17. The moment you realize that your hiccups are gone.
When I get hiccups nowadays, they kind of hurt. It feels like my chest wants to cave in. (seems like I only get them when I eat really hot hot sauce though) I try all the tricks~ hold my breath, drink a lot of water, have someone scare me…. and I sit there and wait…………………….. and finally they are gone….that’s awesome!

    1. that is awesome i agree :)
i take a teaspoon of vinegar to get rid of mine. works most times, except if they’re really bad, then generally if i take another one they go away. maybe would work for you also?

  18. I live in BC and we have long Ferry rides through the gulf islands…most awesome thing is finding that perfect, sunny spot and knowing that you actually can’t do anything but relax for 2 hours with a smutty magazine and your ipod.

  19. Travel sized things like shampoo….they are small enough to fit into an overnight bag…and they make me feel kinda like a giant!

  20. I am so in love with this book. I sat in the store reading this book just laughing to myself and realizing that, YES, I really DO love popping bubble wrap and it is histerical when you get truckers to honk their horns.
Another great thing: Seeing the “Approved” come up when paying for something with your debit or credit card. Success and totally AWESOME!

  21. the ultimate spoon. waking up in the night and feeling her heartbeat sync with mine, no matter how momentary, as we spoon. it is as though her heart wedge found it’s way into my heart slot.
