  3. Since you changed that banner……
Snow pictures! They are just so gorgeous. I have these series of photos that I took of my mom’s old house and it was snowing. So beautiful.
And I also have a lot of pictures that I took while out in the woods after a big snow fall. Seeing the snow piling up on the branches of the trees and piling up on the bushes…..I just love it so much.

  4. Planning out and getting ready for Black Friday shopping. Seeking out the best deals, doing research on where to go, strategically mapping out your route……oh its just all so very awesome!

  5. When this book first came out, I purchased a notebook, & started keeping an idiosyncratic list of awesome things — it remains ongoing. (Has anyone else out there started their own book? It’s *marvellous* to read through when you’re feeling wretched).
    Here are a random 10 :

    1. blowing bubbles
    2. the utterly absurd growl of a very tiny puppy attempting to be tough
    3. walking down a dirt road when very bright sunlight filters through the trees, such that you move through bands of light/shadow/light/shadow
    4. lying down on the floor & colouring, with crayons, in your very own colouring book *as an adult* (honestly. try it : fantastic stress reliever)
    6. the singing of frogs at night
    7. (as a child) my mother singing to me, in the dark, at bedtime
    8. [most people mightn’t know this one] pouring the boiling water over a pu-er tea ball in a glass mug/tea pot, & watching the ball slowly unfold like a flower
    9. [& this one will only be familiar to other Canadians/persons from especially frigid climates] the booming and groaning made by frozen lakes on extremely cold nights
    10. [does anyone else do this?] lying down in the shower and closing your eyes (feels like soft, warm rain)

  6. Making a beat to the click of the turn signal
    AND
Watching the news while listing to music and it looks like there singing!

  7. The “HEY!! I haven’t seen you in a long time and I missed you” hug
what else could you call this? You cant’ just call it a hug or embrace, no…this hug is a specail hug. The kind of hug that makes your heart smile. The kind of hug you are in a hurry to give once this person comes into sight. The kind of hug that brings a happy tear to your eye and one that you never want to let go of.

  14. *Spontaneous marshmallow fights. AWESOME.

*When the elevator in apartment building goes directly from the parking level to your floor without stopping in the lobby. AWESOME.

    1. You know, they make a marshmellow shooter gun…. give that one a try. You can only use stale marshmellows though cuz if you use fresh ones they just get stuck.

  15. Are all of these things truly “awesome”? Not likely! If I were to write about some truly awesome things, they might include: spending a summer’s day in a place that I enjoy, reading a great story, cooking my favourite meal, helping someone when they really need it, trying my hardest to improve my life circumstances, doing something well, exercising and looking after my health, getting a day off work to do whatever I please, respecting the environment, being a good and honest person. The problem in life is that so many people just take life for granted, and they fail to recognize and appreciate all of the small yet important things around us. Shopping malls, the nice car, and a huge paycheck are not required to be able to appreciate and value the things that are most important to us. I think that if many of us learned to do this more, the world and the economy would be a whole lot better than it is today.

  16. Successfully using chopsticks. I always feel a bit of awesomeness when I’m sitting there eating my lo mein with chopsticks and hubby is eating his general tso’s chicken with a fork.

  19. I’m not sure what to call this one cuz for me it falls under two categories.
    1) overcoming your fears
    2) driving some crazy messed up icy roads and making it to your destination in one piece.

I hate driving in the snow/ice. The roads were horrible and untreated this morning and I would just usually call off work and crawl back into bed. Schools were even closed. But for some reason today, I gained a little bit of courage, cleaned the snow off my car and took off. I slid and swerved, I went right when I was trying to go left, I couldn’t get stopped in some places, and I almost got in a wreck with other cars a million times….. but I did it and I am here in one piece. I couldn’t help but smile a big toothy smile when I pulled into the parking garage at work.

    1. I know exactly how you feel Bekah! I too get very tense when driving in terrible Canadian weather conditions. I did this one terrible stormy night to go visit my Mom in the hospital (everyone said not to go)…but I felt I needed to be there. Such a GREAT feeling when I arrived in one piece and Mom was so happy to have some company!
